Any Dream Will Do

The dream began with me working at Old Navy, but instead of doing actual work I had been picking out things for myself. However, we were only allowed to use our employee discount on Fridays and this was, apparently, a Thursday. So I tried to hide the clothes I had so I could come back tomorrow and buy them without having to bother putting them away and finding them all over again. I went into the bathroom (the only logical place) but couldn't find a suitable and un-gross place. Also it began to feel a little illegal. Then I got yelled at by my superior for being in the bathroom too long.

Then, without transition, it is the next morning and I am supposed to go to high school to fill in for someone. Possibly Kelli. I meet a person outside the school grounds who helps me dress in the mascot costume, which I guess is part of my substitution, and it's a duck. (It actually looked a lot like this.) Then I have to go to PE, which is my all-time least favorite class. We are told to run, a path that takes up several flights of stairs which are outside and the clangy type. (I'm just following everyone else.) At the top, I meet Joe and Lauren (her brother, not mine) who have also graduated from high school, not to mention never attended the school I'm at. (It's either Livermore High or Foothill. I dunno why, that's just what I felt.) Then we ran back down and passed through this building which turned out to be a mini-museum on campus and had several displays of "hauntings". Initially, upon looking into the various cases, one would see a person (usually female) in some sort of presumably innocuous position. (one I remember was a girl leaning slightly out of a window, as if to look for something.) Then, when you looked again, the person disappeared and there were plaques to explain the various stories of how these people died as a result of slight alterations to the scenes and their ghosts continued to haunt the place. Everyone else who ran past this everyday took no notice, and I was left behind because I was so interested and wanted to read it. Unfortunately, I can't remember any of the stories. I can only guess that the girl fell out of the window. However, I was one of the first to arrive back at the gym. I still think, despite being assured otherwise, that I must have missed some leg of the course but I was not overwhelmed by guilt. I didn't manage to make it into the "finish square" and was prompted by the PE teacher to do so. Naturally, Tim Gunn was the PE teacher.

Again, something completely unrelated happened although I can't help feeling they are all part of the same dream. Someone showed me a magazine that had an article on college life or colleges or something and it listed the four years and 3 or 4 names of people in that year (if it were rational, it might be people in that year they had interviewed or something) and under junior, my first and last name was listed. I was surprised, but readily assumed it was one of the many other Megans but Katie's name was listed after mine. I was more surprised by this because she's not a junior. Then after Katie's name, a picture of Belle in her blue dress but with wild eyes. Then some blurb about how it was obvious we were good with children, which I didn't think was obvious at all because all it said was our names! When I looked at it again, still perplexed, the spelling of Katie's name had changed.
